Toyota and Lexus recall thousands of vehicles over software error

A recall has been issued for over 15,000 vehicles due to safety concerns over major software failures which may increase the risk of serious accidents.

The defect was found in vehicles belonging to Toyota and its luxury vehicle division Lexus. It can cause cars to not show “critical safety information” to drivers.

“Due to a software error, the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate the visual engine oil pressure light, engine coolant temperature, electrical charge, and other critical safety information,” the recall states.
